Treadmill Calibration

Instructions

On this page, you'll find instructions on how to calculate the real speed of your treadmill, and instructions for calibration. I also wrote a manual detailing every step. Download it for free (coming soon(ish)).

Please note that you can, but don't have to calibrate your treadmill. Treadmills tend to run a little bit slower than the speeds their displays present, but other measures, such as GPS in watches, aren't perfect either. It really is up to you.

Calculate your real treadmill speed on this page. Please first take the following steps, and then enter the acquired values into the form below.

  1. Measure belt length in centimeters.
  2. Set the treadmill at a certain speed, such as 6 kph.
  3. Count the rotations for (exaclty) one minute.
  4. Fill in the measurements below and click the button.

Calculations

Enter your measurements here when you have collected them.

If you cannot calibrate your treadmill or speed sensor, or you do not have one, you can set your treadmill to ... kph to run at ... kph in reality.
